Accident investigations are required under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 (Section 8) and the Reporting of Accidents and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 2016 (S.I. No. 370/2016). Employers must investigate all accidents and serious near-misses, maintain records for a minimum of 10 years, and implement corrective actions based on findings. Reportable accidents must be reported to the HSA within 10 working days.
