PSDP & PSCS FAQ - Offaly

PSDP (Project Supervisor for Design Process) oversees health and safety during the design phase. PSCS (Project Supervisor for Construction Stage) manages health and safety during construction. In Offaly projects, both roles are typically required for construction work.

A PSDP is required for all construction projects in Offaly where more than one contractor is involved in the design process, or where the project is notifiable (typically projects lasting more than 30 days or involving more than 20 workers).

PSDP and PSCS appointments require individuals with appropriate competence in construction health and safety management. In Offaly, this typically means formal qualifications (NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent), relevant experience, and demonstrated knowledge of Irish health and safety regulations.

Generally, no. The PSDP and PSCS roles require different expertise and focus. However, for small Offaly projects, a single competent person may hold both appointments if they have the necessary qualifications and can manage both responsibilities effectively.
