Project Supervisor for the Design Process — a statutory appointment under the Construction Regulations 2013
About This Service
The Project Supervisor for the Design Process (PSDP) is a statutory appointment required under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013. The client must appoint a competent PSDP, in writing, before design work starts, for every project that involves a particular risk, is scheduled to last longer than 30 working days or 500 person days, or involves more than one contractor. The key role of the PSDP is to ensure co-ordination of the work of designers throughout the project. Under the Construction Regulations 2013, the PSDP must: • Identify hazards arising from the design or from the technical, organisational, planning or time-related aspects of the project • Where possible, eliminate those hazards or reduce the risk • Communicate necessary control measures, design assumptions or remaining risks to the PSCS so they can be dealt with in the Safety and Health Plan • Ensure that the work of designers is co-ordinated to ensure safety, and organise co-operation between designers • Prepare a written Safety and Health Plan for any notifiable project and deliver it to the client prior to tender • Prepare a Safety File for the completed structure and give it to the client • Notify the HSA and client of non-compliance with any written directions issued The PSDP may also issue directions to designers, contractors, or others on the project. Safety Check provides experienced PSDP appointments, working closely with clients, architects, engineers, and design teams from the earliest stages of a project. With 24 years of construction industry experience, we ensure that design-stage hazards are identified and eliminated or controlled before they become site-stage problems — protecting workers, the project programme, and the client's legal position.

Here's what construction professionals across Leinster say about working with Safety Check.
"Declan has been our retained safety consultant on three major residential developments in South Dublin over the past four years. His site inspection reports are thorough, practical, and always delivered on time. He flags issues before they become problems — that's exactly what we need."
"We brought Safety Check in after an HSA inspection flagged several non-conformances on our commercial fit-out project in Wicklow. Declan turned around a full corrective action plan within 48 hours and had us back on track within the week. Outstanding response time."
